Summer Rayne Oakes was researching toxins in sewage sludge, identifying aquatic insects, rocking n’ rolling in rainforests, and restoring coal waste dumps when she was struck with the idea that the fashion industry might be a good venue to get out the good word on the environment.
Annointed as “The World’s First Eco-Model,” Summer Rayne works with the coolest companies and cutting-edge projects both in front of the camera and behind-the-scenes on their environmental programs.

Vanity Fair named her “A Global Citizen,” Glamour named her one of the “70 Women of Green,” CNN listed her as “A Young Person Who Rocks,” Amica called her “Top 20 Trendsetters under 40,” and Outside named her one of the “Top Environmental Activists.”
Summer Rayne graduated from Cornell University with degrees in Environmental Science and Entomology and is a Udall Environmental Scholar.
Her first collection of vintage-inspired eyewear is called ECO (Earth Conscious Optics) – a radically new approach to eyewear using recycled metal and plastic. Eco plants a tree for each frame sold and makes it easy to donate your used eyewear to people in need around the world! www.summerrayne.net/
